We already have informed you about the current changes in German legal provisions (in particular free waiting loops).
As expected there is no broad technical solution to implement free waiting loops in all number ranges. So the Bundesnetzagentur has agreed in introducing two new number ranges:
- 0180-6: Since calls from fixed and mobile network will be charged per call, waiting loops can be used without restrictions. Calls from fixed network will cost EUR 0,20/call and from mobile network EUR 0,60/call.
- 0180-7: In this number range the first 30 seconds are free of charge. Afterwards callers from fixed networks will have to pay EUR 0,14/min and callers from mobile networks EUR 0,42/min at the most. This number range should be of interest for such customers which get by with waiting loops at the beginning of a call of less than 120 seconds by delayed connect and a one-time forwarding of 30 seconds at the most (e.g. via IVR) permanently.
In order to make changing the phone numbers more easy the Bundesnetzagentur enables holders of 0180 numbers to apply for numbers from the new ranges 0180-6 und 0180-7 with the same digit sequence (mirror phone numbers) first of all.
From November 12th, 2012 to November 26th, 2012 everyone holding a 0180 number before July 1st, 2012 may apply for a 0180-6 and/or 0810-7 mirror phone number. Alternatively (if the mirror phone number is not available) other number sequences could be requested.
From January 3rd, 2013 to January 24th, 2013 everybody could apply for phone numbers from the new number ranges.
Each petition filed within the above mentioned two periods of time will be regarded as filed on the last day of the respective period. The allocation of numbers will take place after January 24th, 2013.
If you want to use numbers from the new ranges in the future don´t hesitate to contact us in order to discuss further details.
